Lammas Day Breadmaking

The Lammas Baking day led by Sue Philcox was a great success. Six willing volunteers joined her in the kitchen and were presented with a wide array of flour and ingredients.  Sue had provided fruits, spices, bacon and cheese that could be used in various combinations to flavour the bread.  She had also managed to acquire a pack of Lammas Flour.  The morning passed very quickly as the flour was quickly kneaded and turned into dough ready for first and second proving. 

When the second rise had completed the loaves were duly baked.  One extra small bread roll was also made and baked ready to be used in the communion service the next day.  Everyone managed to make a loaf and by all accounts none of them lasted very long!  There is something about freshly baked bread and butter that is truly irresistible.
