Autumn Dinner Dance Nov 2013
A great crown of villagers and friends from the Benefice and further afield attended the Autumn Dinner Dance. In a change to previous year’s we decided that dinner would be served at the start of the evening. Jenny and helpers had prepared a wonderful meal of coc au vin with green beans and new potatoes. Having eaten our fill, rather than moving onto dessert the dancing started. This first section of the dancing consisted of some traditional strict tempo ball room dances – Quicksteps, Foxtrots and Waltzes. To end we all managed a very co-ordinated rendition of Strip-the-Willow. Amazingly the sets managed to finish within a crotchet of the music – not bad considering there was no practice!
Everyone then took a break and re-visited the stage to sample the great range of desserts that had been provided by the ladies. After the raffle was drawn it was on to the final part. In keeping with last year (in fact using the same CD) there was a selection of more contemporary music to accompany the dancing – not strict tempo but close enough for most of us! All too soon it was time for the last waltz and to make our way home.
A huge Thank You to all who helped organise the evening preparing the food and decorating the hall (and clearing up afterwards!) and of course those who attended and made the evening such a great success.
