Easter Egg Hunt & Bonnet Parade
On Easter Monday the Parish Hall was crowded with Children and adults eager to see the parade of Easter bonnets and take part in the egg hunt.
Prompt at three o'clock the procession of be-bonneted competitors assembled at the rear of the hall to progress to loud applause to the stage to show off their creations. Rabbits and chickens and Easter eggs there were in abundance. Some hats were completely hand made and some leaned heavily on summer sun hats whilst some were off beat creations
The judges made their awards with among the winners Lola best child and Jane Hemm best adult and the recipient of the cup as overall best.
Unfortunately, there was no animal prize so Gail's Jake a huge glossily groomed horse with multi coloured reins and a fetching mop cap was declared 'hors de competition!'
The large crowd then ran around the village to find the eggs and completed the quiz cleverly based on pictures of birds appropriate to their site with the robin in an old boot in the porch or the gold crest in the yew tree.
Organiser Susan Clarke and her team had prepared a veritable feast of cup cakes and cream and jam sponges to reward everyone for attending. Congratulations are due to all who helped. An excellent end to an amusing afternoon.
